Koppert Cress's product diversity is a market strength, but it multiplies IPM complexity — many different crops in one greenhouse create favorable conditions for pests, and insect populations fluctuate daily. Beneficial insects and chemical treatments carry real cost and increasing regulatory scrutiny, and pest dynamics don't respond to treatment alone — climate conditions and crop-specific factors shape them too. How Sera helps
Berecz adopted Sera Manager, which consolidated insect counts, treatment logs, greenhouse climate data, and crop metrics into a single platform — replacing manual, fragmented tracking with one place to see every factor influencing insect populations at once. The predictive layer was the specific unlock: a proprietary algorithm analyzes environmental conditions like relative humidity to forecast pest activity ahead of time. Research conducted outside Koppert Cress found that maintaining relative humidity between 45–65% for more than 30% of daytime hours, for at least seven consecutive days, was followed by an increase in greenhouse whitefly populations in 90% of cases analyzed. Applying that leading indicator with continuous monitoring let Berecz intervene before pest pressure escalated, rather than after it was already visible in the crop.
